Jess Phillips has led Auric Solar to unprecedented growth since taking the reins as CEO in 2016. Under his leadership, Auric has accumulated several high-profile accolades, including the Inc. 5000 fastest growing companies list three years in a row, four Utah Best of State awards, and Utah Business Magazine’s Green Business Award. Jess previously worked as one of the top salesmen for Verizon Wireless. He was named to Utah Business Magazine’s Forty Under 40 Class of 2016, which recognizes the state’s rising leaders.
As chief technology officer, Thaniel Bishop oversees the strategy and implementation of solar technology to ensure Auric is providing customers the most effective and reliable photovoltaic systems. He also works as the content expert and curriculum developer for Salt Lake Community College’s industry leading solar program, which was recognized by the White House in 2015. His curriculum served as the framework for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Ready Vets program. With more than 13 years of field experience in the solar industry, Thaniel is a licensed master electrician and has the industry’s highest certification (NABCEP). He has worked on over 1,100 solar installations, from residential to large commercial and industrial, designing and managing many of them simultaneously.
As chairman of the board of one of America’s fastest growing companies, Trent Vansice is focused on making sure Auric Solar is growing smart and making sound financial and organizational decisions. Since co-founding the company in 2010 with a $35,000 loan, Auric Solar has grown to a $150 million company with 250 employees. Prior to joining Auric, Trent was the director of operations and customer service for a leading technology company and led a team of over 1,200 employees. Trent has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa as well as extensive leadership and business training.
As vice president of finance, Bryon Barton oversees all finances, accounting, investor relations and capital markets. Bryon has a long history of helping emerging companies grow and stabilize, including leading IPOs, and has managed more than 100 investors, raised $30 million in private equity, and pipelined more than $7 million in loans, origination and processing. An entrepreneur at heart, he has also founded or co-founded several companies in the financial and manufacturing industries. Bryon has an undergraduate and master’s degree in accounting from BYU and is a licensed CPA.
Auric Solar’s director of government affairs and public policy, Elias Bishop, works closely with legislators, regulators, trade organizations and other interest groups in multiple states to educate important parties and advance the solar industry. Prior to joining Auric, Elias worked with the Utah Solar Energy Association to expand and develop the then emerging solar industry. Elias holds a certificate in regulatory studies from Michigan State University, and a certificate in solar photovoltaic systems from Solar Energy International. He also has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Governors University.
As director of human resources, Makenna Cordingly oversees employee recruitment, management and wellness. In this role, she has expanded company resources, process and support to support the company’s 50 percent growth over the last several years. Prior to joining Auric, Makenna worked as a paralegal, giving her an extensive knowledge of contracts and regulations surrounding employees and work environments. Makenna has a certificate of human resources management from the University of Utah.
Nic Evans leads Auric Solar’s commercial sales operations, overseeing all aspects of the sales process including design, permitting, installation/fulfillment and final inspection. While at Auric, he has grown commercial sales more than 450 percent in both megawatts and revenue, and secured the largest privately-owned solar installation in Utah at Real Salt Lake’s Rio Tinto Stadium. Prior to joining Auric, Nic was the top salesman in the U.S. three consecutive years at his previous company, growing revenue in his territory more than 700 percent in four years. Nic has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Weber State College.
